Bass amplifier scratchy

Hi all,

My girlfriend's brother just got a bass guitar and amp, a Warick blue cab 30. The volume pot is quite (read: very) scratchy.

I assume I just need to stick some switch cleaning fluid into it and it will all be 100%...

Is this correct and if so, what is the correct brand of switch cleaner to use?
