Sigh. I had a nasty feeling all along that I should have listened to.
Bottom line -- Helwin t/a CK Engine Imports (or GW Headzone) is a fairly elaborate scam - supposedly based in Uppington.
I placed an ad in BikeSa, Junkmail, etc to find a cylinder head for my KTM Adventure. This lot contacted me, said they had a head, and sent my a big pile of hires photos of the head from multiple angles. I spoke to 'Akram' to get more info, asked for pic of part num to confirm, within minutes he sent me pic of engine num, and then the part number.
They then sent pro forma invoice, and I said "OK, but there's very little info about you, how can I get more security that you're legit. Got a really snotty email from "Bianca" to say they were not going to try convince me, take it or leave it. I then spoke to Akram again, got some more info.
Now had to weigh up - chance of it being a scam for R2000 part second hand, or pay KTM R6200 for a new one. Eventually decided R2k was an acceptable risk, and the details of the head, etc were comprehensive.
Transferred money, they said shipment had been made, would be with me Monday.
Nothing. Emailed, no reply. Phoned 'Akram', "it's due Tues".
Nothing.
Called Tues afternoon, "will call you back in 5 minutes".
Nothing.
Now phone is not being answered.
Now checking CK, etc, appears to be complete fraud.
So if you see CK Engine Imports, GQ Headzone, a CK of 94/34582/23, VAT number 4630135525 and contact called Akram on 0813975091, run. :boxing: :ticked:
Filing fraud complaint with SAPS tomorrow, maybe they can be traced through bank details or FICA.
