I have an old JVC thing that I have hated since the first day I got it. Back then I think I paid about R10k for the whole system, including the speakers, sub (which is shyte) and Pioneer DVD player (since replaced with an equally dire LG PVR thing that I also hate beyond measure).
I don't listen to it much, but earlier this year I got a pair of used Mission 733 speakers and these have made a HUGE difference to the sound, which has prompted me to look into other better system components. Most of the time I watch and listen to stuff from my iTunes library using the Apple TV 2. I don't encode for 5.1 but I do like a powered sub.
I'll gradually buy better stuff, beginning with the amp, which is the reason for this post. What could I get that is a little above decent for about R2.5k? I am obviously talking used here...
