Saw George Dalaras earlier tonight at Emperor's Palace. WOW, by a country mile the best concert experience I've ever had. The sound was great, the band superb and George Dalaras was better than I could ever have imagined. He's a true artist and musician: blessed as a songwriter, an unbelievably good voice (he's 64 but you'd never know it), plays the guitar and bouzouki as well as his band members responsible for doing duty on those instruments, clearly loves what he's doing and is filled with a real passion for his craft coupled with a down to earth humility you wouldn't expect from an artist that's enjoyed the success and recognition he's had.
The music and musicianship was so damned good I sat there covered in goosebumps for most of the show, completely absorbed in the moment. Tonight I can truly say I was in the company of greatness.
