Better Cables for PS3

Hi,

Is there a way of getting better AUDIO from a PS3, i.e. not using the stock cable that has audio and video.
I use a stereo (2 channel)  amplifier, and it does not have HDMI inputs, so the HDMI can only serve to better the video quality.

Any advice?
