Went to a function last night, screening of that new Johnny Depp film, 'Sweeny Todd'. Was at Hyde Park here in Jhb, not my favourite venue in any case because their projectors never seem to cope with dark images...And Sweeny Todd is about as dark and Gothic as you get. So for starters, the video quality was crap. And to be honest audio was little better. Oh hell, let me be honest: It was crap too. Now my system at home isn't fancy by any means, but I found myself thinking that if it had been a paid-for outing, I'd have really been cheesed off, because I certainly get better audio off my home system, and even my old CRT Panasonic would most likely have shown up better video, even if it's obviously far smaller. I rarely go to movie houses these days, and whenever I do go I find the experience to be a mixed bag. How often do you lot go to the cinemas, and do you also find at times that your home system actually provides a better quality experience?
