I know this is completely unrelated to AV but not sure where else I could put it to get a good unbiased input.
I am having a serious challenge with my body corporate in my complex where i have bought. One of the trustee's is a serious under-achiever who'd got his first "prefect badge" in the form of being a trustee and is brandishing it at will completely unreasonably!
We have been getting complaints from him like:
"Please stop laughing so loud" - Friday night at 22h30
Compliants about me drilling two small holes to put up a bookshelf in my garage at 12h00 on a Sunday! When on earth would I meant to put up a shelf if noon time is not allowed!
A Tuesday at 13h30 he came to complain about music playing - the music level was at 35 which isn't even loud! It was at the kind of volume that you leave a radio on when listening around the house! I can understand if it's midnight then perhaps there could be a very valid issue but at 13h30 on a weekday! Dam! He even want as far as getting a warning delivered to me for it.
Now they have gone as far as ammending all the previous rules and throwing new ones out there without any warning or AGM's or the like, some of my favorites are:
13.c) "No noise or disturbance will be permitted at any time" - the houses are 6 metres wide! At best you can be 3 metres from a neighbor, I can hear my neighbours flush the toilet so this is a little over the top!
20.c) "Residents who refuse to sign for letters/notices will not be exempt from the rules" - I'm sorry, but because I send someone a letter saying he owes me R1000 regardless of if he signs for it doesn't mean he has to pay me!
I have been googling like mad for our local legislations as well as our constitution etc to find out what the hell I can do against the "hitler tirade" as it's seriously hampering our living conditions. I have chatted to my neighbours on both sides and they are in complete agreement with me, they have never felt the need to complain about ANY noise that has come from my place, yet "hitler" accross to road seems to find excuses twice a week.
What can I do? Any idea's here? I am not looking for an reason to go and be un-reasonable, but I wan't to be able to live in a home, not a policed boarding school next to an old age home.
