I recently bought a pair of B&W Matrix 2 speakers from Sean Van Wyk (known as "The HiFi Guy" on Gumtree).
Initially, the only problem were the speaker grilles, which has aluminium sides which were completely broken!
So I decided, "... no biggie, I'll fix it later...". And I'm still busy with that.
But later on I discovered one speaker had a slight rattle close to the tweeter plate, which I removed and took to some plastic repair people in Paarden Eiland. So that's fixed now.
But even then, I still heard some rattle, coming from someplace. I thought it might've been the terminal plate, which I recalled was a bit loose.
And so I removed the wooden cover hiding the crossover, I pushed back the terminal plate to reglue it. But wait. Before I reglue it, I decide to have a look around.
I discovered that everything was sealed off from the main 'chamber' where the other drivers are, so the terminal plate being loose isn't supposed to be an issue.
Later on I also discovered if I knock on the speaker cabinet (one speaker only, doesn't apply to both), the crossover board would rattle, not sure what causes this, but I'll have to fix it.
Now getting onto the main issue, I discovered that three resistors are completely blown, but despite that the speakers still somehow work fine.
I'd like to know if someone here could possibly safely replace the (wirewound) resistors with their appropriate replacements.
Thanks in advance!
