Blue 52 or not.

Hi I purchsed a new house and this place has a pool. the thing is i know that chemicals are expensive and would like to know waht chemicals do you use and do you use blue 52 and what results do you have with it. The other option is to go Salt chlorination but i heard that the chlorinators does not last very long.
