Bookshelf Speaker vs Monitors

Hey guys, my first post here! I've read a few comments on advice for Bookshelf Speakers, and there seems to be a few recommend things to look at (Castle Knight, Wharfedale Diamond etc)

I'm running a NAD 3150 with a pair of old, huge AR 2x floor standing speakers (all inherited gear of course). My question is whether it would make more sense to get a pair of small bookshelf speakers to sit at my PC, or to rather go for an integrated system like KRK Rokit's for instance? What would the difference be here?
