I have just finished spending 4 hours working on a Marantz turntable. It looked very promising: counterweight and headshell present, headshell movement good, platter and platter mat in place and even a lid with no cracks and great hinges. I took it apart, removed spiders, spiderwebs, moth eggs and years and years' dust and grime. Cleaned the hard black rubber deposits off of the motor spindle and platter inner ring, lubed the motor and adjusted the suspension (as much as one does on these machines). I removed the platter spindle bushing, cleaned it out, re-oiled and re-fitted it. Greased all the semi-auto mechanism sliders and nylon parts, then polished the platter and washed and dried the rubber mat. Put it all back together, fitted a brand new belt, and it spins beautifully. On, off and auto-return functions work perfectly.
But the speed is wrong! After struggling for a while, and upon closer inspection, I discovered that the platter does not belong to the Marantz...
Does anyone have a platter for a Marantz TT-1200 lying around? :help:
