Hi there,
Have an old BSR Quanta 700 unit inherited from family. It has the typical unstable drive speed and is quite old but still works. Well sort of. I dont want to use it on any of my nice records... I tested it with a really old pretty scratched record just to see if its ok. The needle looks bent and oxidised.
I have quite a few records just laying around and would like to get a bit of playtime. Classics mostly, not all great condition but some not bad.
Any advise getting it back in working condition? Serviceable? Cartdridge suggestions? I have googled it a bit and I dont want to spend a million billion on a new cartridge for what is essentially not the greatest TT ever made. Incidentally it came along with a Sansui A-60 DC amp, which I serviced and restored a bit, which is really not that bad, although getting on in years and flattening a teeny bit at higher volumes... Probably needs new caps or just to be replaced with a modern amp... :-\
Anyway suggestions on the TT? Keep in mind I am quite the noob when it comes to TT's.
Thanks!
