I hope this question can help others as well :)
Guys, I do not want to scatter my for sale thread so much, hence the new thread.
As you know I am getting a car delivered to me from Cape Province to Bloemfontein on Monday, if all goes well. I am being charged a delivery fee, which was not mentioned in the advert. But I am fine with it and agreed to pay it.

My question is what is all the documents I must get from him? Is just the road worthy test and the registration papers enough? When I lost the sale from the dealer earlier this week, I was asked to also provide proof of payment on my car I traded in at the time. Must I also get proof of payment from the guy who sell me his car that his car is paid or proof of where he bought it?

Lastly, what happens when say he is not happy with my car and offers me less, or I am not happy with his car? The gears might grind, the tappets might be noisy, etc. I believe we still owe each other a test drive. If either he or me feels something is wrong, and one of us cancels the deal, for a genuine valid reason. I am not talking of something small like a indicator globe that is not working, but bigger issues. Can he who drove so far expect me to pay him anything? Especially if something, not disclosed by him is seriously wrong with the car he is selling?

What if he comes here, and offers me say R10K less for my car after seeing it. looking for all the faults he can to justify his offer of less money. I am so scared of seasoned business men who do these deals a lot. What is my rights and what is his rights basically?
