Question for those knowing air conditioners: I have a 3yo Samsung 24kBTU inverter model that's used maybe once every few months, and subsequently by oversight never yet serviced. Noticed today a sound almost like refrigeration whizzing close to the piping area at the indoor unit but not sure it was there before. Some descriptions:
- No noise for the first couple of minutes, then it gradually starts. Audible during usage and very audible for a few seconds after powering down and the fan stopped.
- Noise reduces with higher temperature settings. Independent of fan speed.
- No noise in fan mode or heater mode so it's not a fan or louver/vibration issue.
- Dust filter was fine but cleaned it anyway.
- No problem with condensate output, some condensate dripping off the refrigerant brass joint at the compressor.
- Overall operation seems OK otherwise.
Of course it must happen in silly season when I'm about to go on holiday but just for peace of mind I'm curious of whatever the causes could be?
