We've been getting lots of calls from what appears to be a bunch of crims who claim to be from the "Microsoft Technical Department" on our Telkom line. These idiots will call more than once a day and sometime everyday.
Its the same story every time - quite possibly a Chinese person calling from a call center type thing over VOIP. They know your telephone number and name and claim to have picked up problems on your computer via their technical people. I once gave "John" an earful and must then have been put on the pestering list as I ended up unplugging the line because they kept on calling the whole day.
A work colleague's wife got fooled into allowing them access to their computer (day before yesterday). According to him they run an app on your computer that shows all sorts of problems etc. and then wants to charge $40 to fix it. When she realized something was wrong, they still had time to basically wreck the OS - his techie buddy is suggesting they take the HDD out, copy data and format.
Any ideas how I can get these idiots to stop calling?
