Guys just finished an 8 camera DVR installation .. total cost was R18000 , sounds expensive  but the installation and mounting , conduits , routing (they used 2km cable) etc has taken 6 working days by a team of 2 or 4
I got really good day/night weatherproof cameras etc. quality stuff but not the best (no tilt pan zoom)
Its a great system , TIBET PHR08. Comes with a 1.5 tb hard drive which is enough for about 2 weeks recording , recording on motion  for recorded events. It acts as a network device as it is on my network and you can download recorded data to a NAS or the like. You  can log in via laptops, driod cell , ipad2, , itouch , main puter etc and control the DVR or see cam feeds.
Of course , you can also just use a web browser anywhere in the world to access cameras and DVR.

I get a feed on my upstairs TV where the DV and HT setup is . I can remotely open gates with the system from there too. Also  got a feed to a 26" TV I bought for viewing the cam data  where the downstairs access control centre is.

It also has triggers which can switch things on motion or other conditions , for eg , when one of my  outside  beams goes off , all cameras in the beam zone will start recording. Both my alarm monitoring co's have access to the DVR as well so can see if there is an intruder or its a false alarm or exactly what to expect

Cameras have a wide field of view , I have 2 on my gateposts just pointed at the road either side if the gate and one pointed at the gate intercom , so can see approaches to my house and the neighbours either side or if anyone is trying to hide.
It's all I expected and more.
