Current 2.1 setup:
Yamaha RX-V477 AV Receiver
2 x Boston A26 bookshelf speakers
Klipsch R100SW sub-woofer.
I have a 20 year old Sony mini-Hifi system from the days they were still made in Japan. The speakers are surprisingly good and since they're detachable and almost the size of the Boston A26's, I was thinking of using them as surround speakers on above system. So I have some questions:
1. The Sony speakers have a 6 ohm impedance and the Boston's 8 ohms. Is that a problem? The AV has a setting to set speaker impedance - do I set it to 6 or 8 when using both together?
2. The Sony speakers have very thin speaker wires. Is it worth while upgrading them? I'd have to extend them anyway to get them to the rear of my lounge.
The AV does support a 4.1 setup as it has built-in surround virtualisation so I guess that's how it compensates for not having a center speaker.
