Hello hello hello,
Every few months a few of us Cape Town car sound nutcases decide to get together and have a meetup/braai and sound workshop. It always turns out to be really good fun. I must iterate that it's a "Sound Quality" meeetup so certainly a far way from the stereotypical image of a bunch of cars with doors and boots open with all kinds of music being played as loud as possible.
At the last workshop we had an amplifier shootout whereby we demo'd the different differences in the sound from each amplifier. We used 8 amps (I think?) and used the same CD player, reference CD, speakers and cables for each one. We also used some testing equipment to make sure that the output levels, resitances, (and who knows what else) were all equal as to ensure fair results. It was very interesting.
We had a little over 10 cars there that the owners were more then happy to demo their setup. Every time it's been a great jol normally ending up in the wee hours of the morning for those who have the stamina/stupidity to go that far
If anyone from this forum would like to come along and have a listen to a fairly lesser known side of this music world please feel free. If you drop me a PM I'll send you all the details. It's a good opportunity to expand your horizons and experiences a bit. I am 100% confident that some of the things you'll hear will take your breath away, it is absolutely amazing how good some of these guys get their cars to sound and I think that even the toughest audio purist amongst you lot would be impressed.
It's taking place on Saturday the 14th in Plumstead. It starts at 14h00 and ends whenever people decide to go home. You can come abnd go as you please. There is safe secure parking and a secure enviroment. There will be a braai going so bring your own meat if you feel like sticking around for a bit. If you'd like a few dops bring your poison of choice in a cooler as we certainly will be doing the same.
