It's a Bosch Silver Calcium 628C which was installed in Sept 2009 so I guess I had good service from it.

We wanted to go out this evening, and I pressed the car door remote and nothing happened. Spare key remote for the car also had no effect.

I checked both car remote batteries and they are clean and each of the two batteries inside the remote shows 3V so no problem here except I can't remember why the remote's LED flashes intermittently. The Laguna's handbook says the LED will go dim or not lighting.

Anyhoo, the car is outside and will have to stay outside tonight at much risk as there are lots of naked and half-naked foreign ruffians walking past my house (true!!).

So here's a clue to the problem: I got out my car battery charger, disconnected both battery terminals as per the handbook and put the battery on charge. The charger just buzzes and the analogue needle swings repeatedly from 0A to 6A.

Does this indicate a dead short inside the battery or is this what a totally dead battery does to a charger?

Thanks for your advices.
