CD player modifications/enhancements

Hi,

I have a Marantz SA7001 KI CD player and I am suffering from upgrade-a-lites.

This got me thinking a bit.  You can modify almost anything these days, why not a CD player.

So I would like to turn this rhetorical question in my head to a question to you all.

Is it viable to modify an older but good CDP.

If so, where is the place to go for this.
