Hey folks,
Was in two minds as to whether to post this here or Classifieds, so mods feel free to move if necessary?
Basically, I am trying out some discontinued 'Hi-End' speakers, and they sound bright and harsh, and unbalanced with my VA amp. The guy I'm auditioning them from suggested that it is actually my source that is the issue, and that if I used a dedicated CDP instead of my DVD players, then the harshness would go away. I am not thinking this is the case, as my Boston VR2's sound great with both the amp and DVD players.
But I just want to prove to myself that its not the source, and so wondered if anyone in Cape Town, particularly the Southern Suburbs, had a decent fairly Hi-end CDP I can borrow tonight totest this? The guy is coming to collect his speakers tomorrow morning, so it would have to be tonight!
If anyone is able to help, please PM me? I will look after anyones gear as if it was my own, or more specifically, as though it was someone elses, and I'd owe a lot of money if it got damaged!
Whilst I realise that a dedicated CD player is going to help improve things a good deal, I do not believe that this alone is going to suddenly make these speakers settle down, but as said, I just want to put that idea to rest!
Regards
G!
