Hey guys
So I'm looking at upgrading my DAC shortly. My chain currently consists of: PC > USB > NAD M51 > balanced interconnects > Audiolab 8200MB x 2
The NAD is obviously currently serving as DAC and pre, but the DACs I'm deciding between do not feature digital volume control. I've been looking for a balanced preamp to fill in this part of the chain, but I've been having doubts about adding another unknown variable to the equation.
I'm wondering if I'm better off replacing the Audiolabs with an integrated amp with balanced inputs and calling it a day. Wouldn't even need to be particularly powerful - I think the monoblocks are already overkill for my KEF LS50's in a relatively small 4m x 3m room that I don't drive particularly loud.
Thoughts or advice one way or the other?
