Hi all,
After the problems with my Arcam/Rotel/B&W system I decided to break up the system.
My lounge now has the B&W600 series 3 setup with my Marantz av amp and Marant DVD, which is great for movies and backround music.
I have moved my Arcam, Rotel and bought a pair of Kef IQ3's, and put that into my study for serious music listening.
It's far more musical and not as harsh as using the B&W 601s3's as my main speakers, however it's still pretty bright.
I've advertised my Rotel for sale, and when sold will possible look at one of the Joliba hybrid's as a replacement.
Another tack though, is to look at the Behringer studio amp and their tube line preamp. You can dial in the amount of 'tube' sound you want and I have read some very good reviews on the unit. While not strictly hifi, it might work very well and at around R5000 for both units it's still a lot cheaper than a budget integrated hif amp? I think the studio amp pushes out around 100w in 8 ohms.
