I have not been into (decent) Hi-fi for some time and stuck to my Rotel 930CD & 931amp connected to Boston CR8's and lost track of developments. I came across this forum recently in search of a belt for my Dual 505 and started reading up on what's hot and not.

Firstly I'd like to upgrade my AV system, then later the stereo system. I,ve already replaced my TV with a 32" HD unit.

My AV system further consists of a Samsung DVD P 347; a Teac AG D8000 5.1 amp/receiver and Pro-Linear speakers (cannot find a model no - tall very slim uprights front and back and a centre and sub)

My plan is to keep the TEAC for now. Use my Boston CR8's as fronts, my JPW's (slightly smaller than the Bostons, and predecessors to the Bostons, no model no on them) as rears. I want to bin the centre as it is thin and tinny sounding and later the sub.

Immediate plans are to get a better DVD player. There was talk recently of a Sony here on the forum? Something that has decent CD and  DVD sound, but the OPPO is way out of budget

Secondly, I need a centre unit to compliment the Bostons. Something with very high clarity (transparency as I got to know it).

Then a sub,  as the Pro Linear is goes 'whhoooofff" in stead of "DOEF!"  ;D

Can you guys help with suggestions and  even if you have units standing around, I'll gladly look at it. Budget wise, I cannot afford an OPPO, a Velodyne, etc. So what's decent for much less money?

Oh. I'm located in the Sandveld, 140 kms north of Cape Town
