Reading a bit of the Whiskey thread made me think (unusual that)...
Has any alcohol drinker heard of the Clef du Vin?
I was recently introduced to this amazing gadget- and now have one.
Mannes, who has 12000 bottles of wine in his cellar in Hermanus, pulled this little penknife thingy out and demonstrated how it ages wine, whisky, brandy (Balsamic vinegar too I'm told).
Google it 'cos I'm not going to argue with disbelievers about it being snake oil.
On sale om Amazon for $54- or from Mannes for R700.
I demonstreted it to someone who studied wine at Stellenbosch the next night, using a R280 (ex estate) red. She now has hers too.
It's also a fun party piece. Dangle the Clef du Vin in a glass- 1 second ages 1 year- and then do a comparison with an untreated drink.
