Normally when I add or remove HDMI cables from behind the receiver or source I always put the wall plug off.
Today however I decided to remove an HDMI cable from a second BD player that was off. But cable was live. Did not put the wall plug off. HDMI cable touched something and it sparked.
Saw a blue flash. The primary BD player was in use. The sound dipped and then came back to normal.
Scary. I redid a calibration then double checked all the HDMI ports in use. Everything checks out. Relief.
Lesson learnt. Always, always put the power switch off on the wall when adding or removing HDMI cable.
I am always careful. But today I took a chance and almost paid a heavy price.
