Co-ax or optical?

Hi -

I currently use a tos-link from dvd to amp. I was also told by a reputable audio shop that there is no sound quality difference between co-ax and optic, but the reason why some prefer co-ax is because it is not prone to breaking as optic can be. Somewhere in this forum(can't remember where though), I read that co-ax is superior.
