i was very interested to see what look like a very nice set of speakers for sale today - Tannoy 611s.
Why this piqued my interest is that i just got a pair of KEF Q90s (They've done the rounds in this forum ;D):
So they are of a similar vintage. The Q series use the same drivers as the KEF reference series, but cheaper & smaller cabinets and components. I just can't believe my luck with those KEFs - paired with the Exclame they are the most fantastic sounding speakers - clear mids, effortless bass, just wonderful. I got them as cheap interim speakers to be upgraded once i've sorted out my digital path, but it will be a long time before i part with them.
As you can see, the Q90s and 611s have a similar layout, 3-ways using woofers and concentric mid/tweeters. I was wondering if anyone has been fortunate enough to hear both, and provide some comparison? Not in the sense of a p%ssing contest, just to know how they each sound.
