What started as a need for a 4-pin XLR cable for my Sennheiser's eventually became an meticulous pursuit of cable perfection. Same old story right? Here's the final version of my "Periapt inspired" balanced HD6XX cables. Going to be making a couple of shorter ones and some adapters in future.
The cable is 5m long (for across-the-room listening), comprising some beefy Mogami mic cable, an Amphenol 4-pin XLR connector and some original Sennheiser HD6XX series connectors. I used some gunmetal grey paracord in 8mm and 5mm for the cables and some insane 5-1 adhesive heatshrink to get a neat, simple Y-split. Works like a charm, here I've got it hooked up to the SMSL SH-8 and my 660S:
