Busy listening to this Dac, my first proper Tube Dac I get to try, I have tasted the Maverick Tube Dacs but they more on the entry level side but still very nice.
This Dac had changed my perceptions on Ess Sabre Dacs, it's very different from the other dacs ive heard that use Sabre chips. It's very refined and smooth with some nice warmth and decent levels of detail. It's more of the sit back with a glass of red wine and let the music just pull you in slowly. Very nice low level detail and great Bass, its switchable between direct Dac mode without thc tubes but theres just something magical about the Tube mode, that liquid coherence that makes me like tubes so much.
It's also a Tube Pre Amp and Tube Headphone amp, so really nicely packed with good features. I will be trying the tube headamp later on, from what I read it's a stellar headamp :rubhands:
The design is also nice, took me a while to warm up to its looks but now I think it's a winner, a vintage look with modern craftsmanship.
