CORONA FACE SHIELD
Dear 3D Printing Community
We are calling onto the 3D printing community in Gauteng to assist Netcare 911 to print face shields for medical staff treating patients with the Covid-19 virus. Currently they have a massive shortage with protective gear and the usual suppliers can only deliver in a few weeks time. But we can make a difference!
How can I help?
We need to utilise as many printers as possible to assist with the current need. We are aiming to have more than 100 3D printers contributing to the project. This will produce more than 1000 face shields per day. If you have a 3D printer that can print PLA which has a build volume of 200 x 200mm and are in Gauteng then you can help! The STL file and print setting are given below. When you have printed 10 face masks, then complete the Google form below and a Netcare ambulance will collect the masks when in your area. You do not have to worry about the transparent cover and clamps, Netcare will supply this. It is that easy!
And whats more is Netcare will have a lucky draw afterwards and one lucky contributor will win a Creality Ender-3 Pro 3D Printer sponsored by 3D Printing Store.
Additive Manufacturing Solutions (Pty) Ltd (AMS) will pledge to sponsor about 200 rolls of Filament to the cause, but we need more sponsors, especially from the corporates , to make more filament as well as 3D Printers available.
Printing Settings:
Material: PLA, ABS or PETG
Colour: Any Colour
Layer height: 0.3mm
Printing Speed: 70mm/s
Infill: 50%
Support: Not required
Raft: Not required
Note: You are welcome to adjust the settings to fit your printer & slicer.
