Hi
I have a Marantz Cinema 40 as part of a 5.1.4 home theatre system. I have a Marantz MM7055 driving my centre and fronts, and the rears and 4 x ceiling-mounted Atmos speakers are powered by the Cinema 40.
Initially, the system worked well, but I sometimes heard random cracking sounds from the rear left atmos speaker. I did some troubleshooting and it was clearly the channel on the Marantz as the crackling followed when I connected another speaker to that channel.
The crackling is not consistent as it would come and go. It is not source-dependant, ie, the cracking is there regardless of if there is a source or not like when I select Bluetooth when there is no Bluetooth device connected, and the crackling remains. The volume of the crackling is unaffected by the volume as it continues even if I turn the volume all the way down.
Sometimes the crackling was accompanied by a message that an update was available and after I ran the update the crackling disappeared. Recently the crackling has returned and no update was available.
I then resorted to a full firmware restore and update. This time the crackling has returned immediately.
Any thoughts?
