Hi
I am somewhat in shock as I write this. Somebody living relatively close to me was working on his car parked in his driveway. Two pedestrians walked past and shot him on the spot and simply walked on and disappeared in the nearby station.
I ask myself what practical measures can be implemented to discourage such behavior?
I have my reservations re:
a) Cameras- usually the resolution is so poor that you cannot photo id the perpetrator and it always "post the event";
b) Armed Response: You need them within seconds not 5 minutes later so not ideal either - possibly a waste of money;
c) NHW - They respond faster than the Police but cannot arrest anyone;
d) Gated Areas: Not always practical as some roads are arterial pathways.
e) 2 Meter Fencing has not stopped anyone. I watched a 1.7 m guy scale a 2 meter fence with ease after breaking out my copper drain pipes.
Let think aloud re what options can be explored?
