I was waiting to meet my wife at the local mall, and took a seat on one of the benches there. I was sitting across from a computer shop. In the window were two modern turntables on display: one a Crosley retro-styled combination (CD/radio/turntable) with wood finish and lid and another, a plainly-styled black plastic type. I was struck by the amount of people who stopped to point and discuss these items. From solitary old-timers to whole families. I've not seen this behaviour in recent times, other than when there are motor vehicles on display.
