How many of you guys have your DAC outputs straight power amps, using the DAC to control the volume.
I have tried a couple of DAC's using this route but in my opinion they always seem to fall short of a good DAC to Pre to Power set up.
The Vivere was pretty good though as was the Wadia 121 as DAC/PRE.The Nuprime DAC-9 did well too, although I found it much better suited with the Nuprime STA-9 Amps in the mix.
Mark C has a couple of systems using only DAC's ,no pre amps in the mix and they all sounded pretty good.
Anyone else doing this?
