Day #24
Made a chicken curry for dinner last night. On a whim we decided to try making our own Papadums using Lentil flower. They turned out pretty well. A lot of work for two Papadums each though. Much easier to buy ready-to-cook ones.
Vegan option was plant protein stir fry thingie curry instead of chicken.
:angrywife: has been putting out bird seed in the mornings for the last 10 days or so, this morning we had our first Rameron Pigeon visit. Closely followed by 3 others, one almost completely white in colour, save for a few grey splotches.
Ran an errand this morning. To do so I checked prices of mielie meal at Makro yesterday. Also saw that Makro are currently running promotions on wine, spirits & beer! Not sure if it is done in error or if someone is playing a sick joke to taunt us. [member=18958]Jason Willemse[/member] ???
Gave the lawnmower a service this afternoon after Resident 3 had finished mowing the lawn. Had to use a helicoil insert on the carb where the air filter L-piece meets the carb as it was ?hunting? at idle & lower RPM due to an air leak as the threads had stripped. It?s been one of those niggling problems ?that I?ll get around to when I have time?. Today, surprisingly enough, I had some oint:
Thanks to F_D & a comment on a different thread I found Radio NORA on the Cambridge NP30. A great station of mainly 80?s tracks with no adverts or presenter announcements. Bloody marvellous. :2thumbs:
My sourdough starter died. I?d neglected it (in truth, forgotten about it) for the last 3 days. I started another one, and put it on my desk so I cannot forget it.
Resident 5 vacated the abode today & went home at her Mom?s insistence. Luckily home is close by, so no risk traveling. We?ll all miss her. I won?t miss the need to cook 2 different meals every night. I think Resident 3 is going to find it a little lonely after being on ?honeymoon? for 3 and a half weeks!
Resident 2 persuaded me to help her in digging a new flowerbed in a neglected corner of the garden. Unbeknown to me she gave me the spot where there was a paperthorn bush/creeper. This explains why it was a neglected corner.
I?m sure even the neighbours blushed at my expletives. I?ll be digging those little thorns out of my hands for hours. :fuse:
At that point residents 2 & 4 decided to go start a 5,000 piece puzzle, leaving me outdoors in the thorny jungle! I managed to escape to go in search of a beer, only to remember, upon arrival at the beer fridge, that there is none. In utter frustration I had a Heinekrapen 0%.
My beer fridge has never, in 16 odd years, been so empty. It is a truly sad state of affairs.
Whilst writing this a Mossie flew into my office/listening room. Cat saw Mossie. Mossie saw cat. Mossie flew onto bookshelf. Cat jumped off couch & onto floorstander, using floorstander as NASA Launchpad to get to top of bookshelf. Floorstander dutifully obeyed Newton?s 3rd law & was ?saved? from falling by hitting the windowsill as it fell over. The vinyl wrap is now torn/scratched in 3 places. Cat nearly went over wall & into dining room below. Bloody Mossie flew straight back out the way it came in. Unhappy Trompie. Unfazed cat, which promptly climbed back onto couch & went back to zzzz land. Much consternation from jigsaw puzzle ladies down below in dining room when they saw rear end of cat scrabbling to scale wall above them.
Also. The Heinekrapen 0% has given me a headache. How is that even possible?
