I recently acquired a vintage Yamaha M-2 power amplifier with a huge toroidal transformer, apparently these types of transformers are prone to buzzing which is caused by DC on the mains line. If I put my ear close the the amplifier I can hear a faint but noticeable buzzing sound coming from the transformer.
Are there any local suppliers who sell DC blockers? Do they even work? Alternative I could build one myself if it's not too complicated, I am fairly competent with a soldering iron but circuit diagrams are still a bit of a challenge for me to read..
