G'day All,
Got my daughter a used Casio keyboard for a reasonable price which she can use until I get round to driving down and bringing my late grandmother's piano up to Jhb. The unit is in really good nick, but did not want to start up straight away.
Checking the obvious things, the wallwart seem to have gone south. Not a problem, I'll find one. Plugging a working wallwart in - same 9V DC and 1000mA - still nothing. So it seems there's a fair amount of corrosion in the female plug socket.
Then I got some D size batteries, opened the battery compartment and found the spring is BADLY rusted. As in very. I tried contact cleaner and sanding but success is limited - a minor bump can stop the power flowing.
My question:
Where can I get a little 9V round plug socket to replace this one with? Is that the best idea or can anyone recommend a way of cleaning the socket?
Also, any ideas on where to get a replacement spring for the battery compartment? This one is beyond help.
The keyboard sounds really good so I don't mind spending a little time and effort to get it 100%.
Thanks in advance!
Attie
