Denon x-1000 and Sony blu-Ray BDP-S490 picture problem

First post and I need help please

Have just purchased this blu-Ray player and when I connected it via HDMI I get intermittent picture and it is mostly this HD type of snow. I have plugged the blu-ray directly to the tv and works fine.

Anyone know what the problem is and can offer advice please?
