I'm looking for a good outboard DAC and since I have no experience of these perhaps someone would like to comment on what I should be looking for.
Primarily, the input would be from from a CD transport but having a USB input would also be nice. The preamp, amp and speaker chain of the system is neutral to "mellow" sounding, if that makes a difference. Music would be mostly classical, plus a bit of Jazz.
Due to, as they say, financial constraints, the high end stuff is a no no for me. Any recommendations based on experience please?
