I read this on another forum, and the consensus seems to be that the piano is the most difficult instrument to reproduce by speakers. It?s sheer range, and the complexity of the notes. I?m sure this holds true. But I have found that the lesser pieces of an analogue drum kit, can be a challenge. The snare particularly. Tom to a lesser degree. A favourite test track for this is Ballyhoo?s Man on the moon. I?ve heard many systems struggle to convey a natural timbre for the snare on that track.
