First post on this section of the forum! Before starting this topic, I read a few posts to avoid re-inventing the wheel.

I'm looking for a digital streamer or bridge optimised for audio playback. I use a laptop with 1TB internal storage running foobar2000 server and controlled by MonkeyMote iOS app. My music library is largely FLAC from CD rips, iTunes downloads and 24bit FLAC downloads. The laptop is connected to the DAC via USB and onto my 2 channel integrated amp.

After a long day at work, I hate having to hook up the laptop whenever I listen to music and configure the audio outputs. And I don't want to use a TV monitor as an interface (prefer the iPad). On research, it looks like there are endless options out there. The few audio digital bridge I came across include:
1. My current approach (not headless)
2. Headless PC like C.A.P.S and Mac Mini
3. Network streamers

The first 2 options are flexible as you can run whatever server you want and various iOS remotes as interface. The Mac Mini approach looks attractive but I'm not using iTunes and associated fies (AIFF, ALAC, etc). The 3rd option is more restricted and iOS remotes of the streamers I have seen are average (except pricey systems like Linn, Naim, Sooloos, etc).

What are you guys using? What do you recommend I use?
Please no Mede8er like media players - been there and I didn't like the sound.
