Avid DIY-ers!

I have been searching high and low for proper enclosures for electronic equipment for a long time now. Nearly giving up I decided that I am going to make my own.

After a few weeks of intensive design I came up with a 'system' that is universally adaptable for a variety of DIY audio needs.

Below is the prices for parts and what a complete package will cost. I need to get a few orders together to make this economically viable. All parts are professionally punched, laser cut and bent. You also have an option of having the parts professionally powder-coated. Special laser cut top plates, face plates and rear panels are also entertained (as long as you supply all the dimensions of the cut-outs).

Case internal dimensions are: 425 mm (W) x 345 mm (D) x 79 mm (H)
Faceplate dimensions are: 482.6 mm (W) x 88.9 mm (H) x 3 mm (Thickness) - 19" wide rack-mount standard, 2U height.

Basic faceplate provided with cut-outs for the following controls:

Power Switch - Rotary
LED Power Indicator - 5 mm
Volume Control - Rotary
Selector Switch - Rotary

Faceplate is fixed to sub chassis by means of four M4 bolts and nuts (not included).

Rear panel is punched for the following interfaces:

IEC Power inlet plug - 1 (On-board fuse type)
RCA / Binding post, chassis mount - 10 (6 grouped as inputs and 2 grouped on each side for outputs)

  • Faceplate - unfinished - not engraved: R197.95
    Cover Panel - Bottom - Ventilated - Mild Steel - Unfinished: R244.26
    Cover Panel - Top - Ventilated - Mild Steel - Unfinished: R410.81
Rear Panel - Mild Steel - Unfinished: R255.80
    Sub Chassis - Unfinished: R680.96

    Cover Panel - Top - Protruding tubes - Aluminum - Unfinished: R411.69

Faceplate - Engraved (Basic legend): R351.44
    Cover Panel - Bottom - Ventilated - Mild Steel - Powder-coated Wrinkle: R330.60
    Cover Panel - Top - Ventilated - Mild Steel - Powder-coated Wrinkle: R460.22
    Rear Panel - Mild Steel - Powder-coated Satin: R411.69
    Sub Chassis - Powder-coated Wrinkle: 727.42

Cover Panel - Top - Protruding tubes - Aluminum: R411.69

So for a complete case that is professionally powder-coated you will be paying: R2281.37

The sub chassis is fitted with threaded inserts (before powder-coating). All mild steel parts are 1 mm thick. Aluminum top plates are laser cut from 2 mm sheets.
