After being asked to do some mods to a clients SL1200 and coming away rather surprised I bought an SL1210 (black version) a few months ago for a fair price to see what can be done.

An external PSU was built as nobody wants a transformer inside a TT, furthermore the internal regulator is considered not to be stiff enough to handle the motor demands. The internal supply was removed.

The original arm was removed, a new carbon fibre armboard made and fitted. Now the games begin and we can evaluate her with a decent arm. For now the Funk FXRII.

The on off switch on the deck has a new role, it now switches the pulsing strobe circuit on and off so the deck can be played without the glaring strobe.

A mod was done to the servo, effectively making it less severe in its adjustments.

So far it sounds way better then stock AND way better then you would imagine.

IMO a very viable option to go with and slowly customise since it seems many DJs are starting to get rid of these and used street price is around R2k-R2k5
Spares are available even on E bay and they certainly have proved reliable.
