The days when CD shops still exist with loads of CD`s then it used to be my first filter when looking for new music in a store.
I will pick mostly CD`s that where labeled according to my favor for a specific type of music i am looking for and it was easy because the side of the CD was clearly labeled. And then i will take the pile of cd`s to the counter for listening and sorting.
About 20 Years back there used to be a stunning CD shop in Nelspruit with dimmed lights, thick carpet, sound proofing on walls and B&W speakers man that was the spot but did not last and then of course Music Den used to the place in the days...
For Blues and Jazz i will go for -- Verve recordings !!
For smooth classic I will go for -- DECCA
Nice Piano i will go for -- Philips recordings
More classic and Blues -- TELARC in the old days.
