Booked a cruise for wife and I with Imagine Cruising. First mistake was to tell me the Qatar Airways plane lands at Dubai. Upon pointing out that Dubai is in the UAE but Qatar flies to Doha, I was told that "everything is correct". After 4 phone calls I got the manager and asked her to get out an atlas. After much grumbling she said she had one and I asked her to look up Dubai. Yes, she said, so what. So I related the story. Impossible, she said, so I sent her the invoice showing the incorrect info. Back came an amended invoice, but with different flights to the original (we were a party of 6 and needed to travel together). Got it sorted in about 6 weeks
Then ship docked in Civitavecchio on Wednesday. The (prepaid) taxi to take us to Rome was not there. The phone number of the taxi co did not answer. After waiting 2 1/2 hours we took another one at a cost of 190?. Imagine Cruising now tell me the phone number on their transfer voucher is incorrect. No offer to refund the 190?. Said I must claim from travel insurance. Travel insurance said this is not covered but will contact Imagine who they said have a "poor reputation for making mistakes"
One bright change was the friendly Home Affairs lady in Cape Town. Hitherto I have always been interrogated about my Permanent Residence permit, which is dated May 1952 (they think I could not have been born yet). This time I received a smile and "welcome back"!
