Domestic electrical question

Hi guys, this is for the geniuses that know their way around the intricities of electrical stuff ;D
Over the past few weeks I have noticed that when switching off certain lights in certain rooms that I get an audible thump coming from my HT sub.
Is there any logical explanation for what is causing this and secondly, what can be done to rectify the problem?
Personally,  I am only good for plug changes so delving into the complex stuff will only result in pain for me
