Does anyone know of any trustworthy charities doing good work in helping the needy during this period? I have been donating to The Solidarity Fund. I am also a regular monthly donor to MSF and Meals on Wheels.
A construction worker asked me to help him buy a small bag of maize meal at the Checkers in Kyalami Corner yesterday. He looked a beaten, sad, and hungry man who babbled about no work, money, and food. I asked him to take a big bag of maize meal and anything else he wanted. He loaded a 10kg bag of maize meal into a trolley together with 1 can of pilchards, 1 can of Bull Brand corned beef, and a 2-litre bottle of oil. That's all. It was heartbreaking, I drove back home with a lump in my throat. I know I can do more but I cannot be standing around in Checkers looking for beneficiaries lest I be taken away in a straight jacket :nutter: :nutter:
Please only respond if you have something positive to contribute. I really don't want to hear conspiracy theories about The Solidarity Fund and other charities being a scam etc. etc. etc.
