This may be old news, but I have it on good authority that the main reason why we have so many HDMI board related problems is due to small, yet potentially serious voltage surges originating from the PVR's and being sent via the HDMI connection. Apparently it happens mainly after power outage's (such as load shedding) when the PVR starts up again when the power is restored. This can potentially damage any electronic equipment (display or AVR) on the other side of the HDMI connection. Some equipment are obviously more prone to this issue and those AVR's with HDMI boards that also have the DSP micro chips on the same circuitry may end up with some really costly damage. Can anyone perhaps verify this?
