Reports from the Jan CES 2015 show in Las Vegas has some news on DTS:X
It is to b released in March 2015.
It will b an option on AVR's and AV Processors just like DDHD and DTSMA is at the moment.
It does not need height speakers like Atmos.
It can b run (drive) on any existing 5.1; 7.1; 9.1; 11.1 speaker configuration.
In the demo at CES 22x speakers were used.
It treats main dialogue as a separate channel. This allows the user to up the dialogue volume without increasing other sound volumes.
There is more but this was of interest to me.
